The Last Scream // since 1993

Le Dernier Cri is a serigraphy workshop born in 1993 from the ashes of the French “undergraphic” movement of the 1980s.
A polymorphous, mutant, protean and intrusive independent associative editorial structure, the images printed at the studio are the polar opposite of conventional storytelling and illustration, meticulously assembled to create artist books in stale ink by Pakito Bolino.
Over the past twenty years, this editorial policy has generated more than 400 monographs and collective books, in various formats (from book to poster to frame) and limited edition (between 100 and 1000 copies).

The integrity of the production of Le Dernier Cri relies on complete control of the production process: creation, distribution and editing.
At a time when the industrialization of “cultural products” and “objects of entertainment” is reaching a sophistication that is as seductive as it is stupefying, the control of the entire production process allows the Last Cry to restore the status of works of art. total art to the images and sounds created and broadcast. The Last Cry clears the field of the wild image, explored unceremoniously to the point of creating true icons in each of its productions where the raw, the obsessive, the hallucinatory and the instinctive are intertwined.

In the productions of The Last Scream, there is no room for emptiness: blank surfaces and silences are prohibited, strident colors are immediately apparent, sounds pass through the eardrums, images flow directly into the mind. The reader, spectator, listener is grabbed, struck, seized, confused, he finds himself brutally deprived of his retreat as a dissatisfied consumer. Eye rehabilitation has only just begun!

The network of artists of the Last Scream is expanding beyond France to an international level (Belgium, Scandinavia, Latin America, South Africa, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Japan, Canada, United States …)

The artist collective has also staged three animated propaganda films, the most recent of which, “Les Religions Sauvages”, brought together around thirty artistic terrorists over a period of two hours; In addition, around ten sensory disruptive discs and the launching of ten aperiodic issues of the magazine “Hôpital Brut”, a veritable international visual encyclopedia.

In addition, the structure organizes the annual “Vendetta” micro-edition fair on the Friche Belle de Mai site.
Every two months, in the heart of the workshop, exhibitions are organized as part of the “evil eye” cycle.
As an exhibition curator, Pakito Bolino also brings together international artists in explosive scenographies,, “Mangaro / Heta-Uma” in 2015, “PrintNoiz” in 2016, “Underbrut” in 2017, “Viva revolucion grafica” in 2018 , “MONDO DC” in 2019/2020.

The hyper density of this production makes The Last Scream impossible to label, while creating a siphon that sucks in the most unclassifiable international visual artists. Heterogeneous in their styles, in their thoughts, these marginal, unmanageable and irrecoverable artists are the heart of the Last Cry.

Regular releases (one to two books per month) have made the Last Cry a benchmark and unifying body for a new wave of “undergraphic” authors and publishers!
